Baby Pack N Play
Do I absolutely need a pack n play (play pen) and a swing for the baby.?

I am second guessing my registery, and I keep thinking that I need to add a pack n play onto it and also a baby swing. But I am going back and forth thinking I need it one minute and don't the next. I registered for a bouncey seat and play mat as well as a Jumperoo for when she's a little older, but do I really need a swing too, and the convience of a pack n play?

I couldn't have lived without either when my son came home! The swing was nice when I had to fix dinner and my husband wasn't home yet to watch him. I could set it up in the kitchen doorway or across the kitchen where it was a safe distance from the cooking and I could still see him while he was happy and content to swing. It was also nice during the day when he was up if I had to have my hands free and put him down a few minutes.

The pack and play was a god send when we travelled because we had a bed that we knew was safe. It was also handy when he got mobile and I had to run to the bathroom or change a load of laundry over. I could plop him down in the pack and play for a few minutes with some toys in it to amuse himself. I knew he'd be safe and right where I left him when I got back into the room.

The bouncy seat however, for us, was a complete waste of money. He hated it and screamed his head off anytime we tried to use it. We ended up donating ours before he even outgrew it because he would kick and scream to get out of it every time. My second child is due in June and both the pack and play and the swing will be used again with her. As for bouncy seats, those I'm taking a pass on. We got more use from the exersaucer when my son was able to keep his head up on his own around 4 months old. He did enjoy bouncing and playing in that alot and we got more use from that than the bouncer.
